Peter and Alice McDonald and family

Peter McDonald was born 8th April 1880 in Green Street, Leadgate, County Durham. His parents were Charles McDonald and Mary Carty who both originated from Dundalk, Ireland and they died when he was 10 and 12 respectively. He was one of 8 children;- Mary Anne, Maggie, Frank, Peter, Paddy, Charles, Thomas and Katie. He was a deputy manager in a coal mine. Peter married Alice McCurley and they had 10 Children: - Mary (died aged 1 yr), Charles 1911, Roger 1912, Josephine 1914, Teresa 1916, Alice 1918, Peggy 1919, Frank 1921, Mary 1922 and Peter 1929.

Alice's parents were Roger McCurley and Alice Hughes who were married at the Brooms Roman Catholic church near Leadgate, County Durham on 18th January 1879.
